Behavioral Health
Northern Montana Health Care believes that mental and emotional well-being are essential parts of your overall health. Our caring team of mental health professionals provides comprehensive psychological and psychiatric services to support individuals and families across the Hi-Line.
Whether you're facing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, or other behavioral health challenges, we’re here to listen, understand, and help you find a path forward. Therapy and psychiatric care are available for all ages, and services are tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual.
Psychological Services
Psychology is the scientific study of mind, behavior, and human experience. Psychology examines thoughts, emotions, behaviors, personality, and relationships. Psychologists help us understand how we think, feel, perceive, and interact with the world around us. Our team of licensed psychologists have advanced clinical training to assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of mental health conditions.
Therapy services may include individual, couples, or family therapy, as well as psychological evaluations and assessments. We work with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults - helping each person navigate life’s challenges with support and care.
Psychiatric Services
Psychiatry is a medical field that focuses on diagnosing and treating psychiatric disorders. These conditions may arise from medical, emotional, or behavioral causes. Psychiatric care may include medication management, therapeutic support, or coordination with other members of your care team.
Our psychiatric providers offer treatment across the lifespan and take a personalized approach to helping patients improve and maintain mental wellness.
Understanding the Diagnostic Process
Every person’s experience is unique, and so is the process of making a diagnosis. This may include a clinical interview, self-assessment questionnaires, psychological testing, and in some cases, lab work to rule out medical causes.
We consider a variety of factors - such as personal history, family and social background, and current challenges - to build a complete picture of your well-being. Diagnoses are made using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM–5–TR) and serve as a tool to help us create a thoughtful and effective plan of care.
A Collaborative Approach to Care
At NMHC, we take a team-based approach to behavioral health care, and you are always at the center. Whether working one-on-one with a provider or including trusted family members and support systems, our goal is to provide care that respects your voice, values, and goals.
