Anesthesiology/Anesthetics:
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetics (CRNAs) provide medical care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. CRNAs provide anesthetics to patients in every practice setting, and for every type of surgery or procedure.
What is Anesthesia
Anesthesia is a medical treatment that prevents patients from feeling pain during surgery. It allows people to have procedures that lead to healthier and longer lives. To produce anesthesia, doctors use drugs called anesthetics. Scientists have developed a collection of anesthetic drugs with different effects.
These effects may include some or all of analgesia, paralysis, amnesia, and unconsciousness. A patient under the effects of anesthetic drugs is referred to as being anesthetized.
